Ben is very excited and honored to brew beer for the Tucker community and beyond as the Head Brewmaster of Tucker Brewing Company. A native of St. Louis, Ben first became involved in the brewing industry as an intern at Six Row Brewing Company and later as Assistant Brewer at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company where he continued to expand his knowledge and appreciation of modern approaches to traditional German beer styles.
Ben later studied at the VLB (Teaching and Research Institute for Breweries) in Berlin, Germany and completed the Certified Brewmaster Course in 2017. Chemical technical analysis and a focus on quality assurance were stressed during the rigorous classes, and after studies a more practical learning towards lagers and Weißbiers ensued.
Ben will be serving the Tucker community as Head Brewmaster of the brewery, however, he also holds degrees in Anthropology and German language from the University of New Mexico, where he first began brewing beer with his college roommate. A future might have been filled with more dirt and shovels than suds had he not taken a year of undergraduate studies at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany, where his young taste buds for beer were first turned towards German ales and lagers.
Ben’s favorite beer style is doppelbock, but he prefers to drink a hefeweizen while enjoying the sun in the Tucker beer garden. He enjoys camping, hiking and everything the outdoors has to offer; playing ultimate frisbee and disc golf; reading books and playing with dogs.
