Home brewer and beer lover, Ryan was introduced to German-style beers at the age of 15 when he lived in Detmold, Germany as a Rotary exchange student. To follow up his high school experience, he spent a semester in Freiburg, Germany studying German culture and language, for which he obtained a bachelor degree from Indiana University.

He moved back to Atlanta in 2008 to further his business career at GPI Group, the business that he subsequently took over from his father. Seeing a need for a more diverse market in Atlanta for craft beer and inspired by traditional style beers, he decided to open Tucker Brewing in 2017.
